Muktinath (Muktidham / Muktishetra) is a famous pilgrimage site for Hindus as well as Buddhist. Hindus believe this is the god of salvation. According to Sri Vaishnava philosophy it is also one of the eight most sacred shrines.Vaishanavs people also call this temple Svayam Vyaka Ksetras. Buddhists people believe this is the place where Guru Rinpoche aslo known as Padmasambhava meditated while on his way to Tibet. Muktinath is located on a high mountain range at an altitude of 3710M in Mustang District of Nepal. The main shrine is a pagoda shaped temple dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. Inside the temple there us statue of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi ,Saraworti ,Janaki,Garuda,Lava – Kush and Sapta Rishi.Behind it there are 108 waterspouts in the shape of cow headed pour holy water. About hundred meters south of main shrine there is another famouse temple of Jwaladevi, the goddess of flame. The eternal flame that has been burning inside the temple of continuously since time immeomorial.Balck amniotes fossils, thought as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu is found in plenty in the area and pilgrims travel long distances over rugged trails to collect them

Fly to Jomsom. Visit Muktinath Temple
Drive to Pokhara Airport for Jomsom. The flying hour from Pokhara to Jomsom is approx. 25 min. Upon arrival at Jomsom, check in at hotel and walk few minutes for bus/jeep stand and drive to Muktinath for around 45 minutes. From the bus/jeep stand, need to walk for half an hour. At Muktinath Darshna/ puja of Muktinath temple and take a bath on 108 water spouts. Then drive back to Jomsom. Overnight at Hotel. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at Hotel. O/N at Hotel. |
